THE WORLDWIDE organic pigment market is expected to grow 6.4%/year through 2004, says a study by The Freedonia Group (Cleveland). This is chiefly due to rising global production in their primary end markets--inks, and paints and coatings--and a trend toward higher pigment loadings in those markets.
Other growth drivers include environmental concerns about heavy metal-based inorganic pigments, which is encouraging a switch to organic pigments, as well as use in new applications, such as traffic and marine paints, the study says.
