Robert Hanson has led the Elgin Symphony orchestra to unprecedented heights, and this weekend he'll take his baton to Chicago's lakefront when he leads Saturday night's Venetian Night concert as part of the Grant Park Music Festival.
This free concert, which has a special starting time of 7 p.m. (one-half hour earlier than most Grant Park concerts), will be followed by the traditional Venetian Night Parade of Boats and fireworks display.
"This is the first time I've conducted at Grant Park," Hanson said. "It's a great orchestra, and it will be fun to work with them."
