PHILADELPHIA _ A simple, unassuming lectern will be all that separates George W. Bush from his audience Thursday night as he strives to forge an image as a personable, caring, competent leader who can transport an already prosperous nation to greater heights.
Disregarding his own 9:30 p.m. bedtime to deliver the biggest speech of his 54 years, Bush will accept the Republican presidential nomination with an address that aides said is intended to play on his image of authenticity and to make the case for change in the White House and in the country.
