It's easy to dismiss Tommy Bolin as "The World's Greatest Replacement Guitarist." He was handpicked by Joe Walsh to take his place in the James Gang, and he followed Ritchie Blackmore in Deep Purple. But those high-profile gigs don't tell the whole story. In a tragically short period of time, Bolin demonstrated himself to be a versatile, exciting, and influential guitarist.
