Berlin S-Bahn network is being renovated and expanded as Germany's restored capital city attempts to keep pace with the rapid growth and dispersal of its population since the fall of the Berlin Wall.

BERLIN has been under massive reconstruction for the past decade and its transport system is being modernised and extended in similar fashion. The S-Bahn network operator, S-Bahn Berlin, is undertaking a programme of improvements up to 2010 which should enable it to cope with increasing traffic throughout the Greater Berlin area.
