INDIANAPOLIS _ Not being a front-runner, well, that was tough enough for A. J. Foyt in his first year back as a NASCAR team owner. But being a non-runner finally turned Foyt's face fiery.
After nine races _ when three different drivers had failed to qualify Foyt's Pontiac for five races _ the Foyt hit the fan.
"That's when I said, `I've got to make changes, because this ain't gonna fly with myself or my partner, Conseco,' " said Foyt, 65, a four-time Indianapolis 500 winner.
