A barren patch of land hugging the shore of Agua Hedionda Lagoon near Carlsbad lies at the heart of a grand scheme that has rearranged Dominick Mendola's life.
But he doesn't see weeds which he contemplates it. He sees shrimp -- thousands of pounds of tasty Mexican white shrimp, planted, fertilized and cultivated in 41 covered saltwater raceways like so many stawberries ripening in one of the nearby greenhouses.
