Digital printing is continuing to grow rapidly in Europe. But its breakthroughs have tended to be in the smaller print sectors rather than in any of the large conventional markets.
It is expanding at an average annual rate of around 20 to 30 percent from a relatively low base. Much of the growth, however, is outside the traditional printing sector.
Throughout Western Europe, particularly in the big commercial centers, the stronghold of digital printing remains the corporations and financial institutions with in-plant operations exploiting the advantages of the short-run and fast turn-around capabilities of digital applications.
