Coke Controversy Illustrates Issues with HFCs.(Brief Article)

After being criticized for using hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) in its cold-drink equipment earlier this year, Coca-Cola announced plans to phaseout the use of the chemical. While the HFC phaseout decision was lauded by environmental groups such as Greenpeace, other groups blasted the phaseout plans, saying the move away from HFCs will threaten the Earth's ozone layer and the competitiveness of businesses that have invested millions in HFC-based technology.
