World Record Fundraising Event Supports
Thousands of Special Olympics Athletes in 19 States
GREEN BAY, Wis., Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ --
Surpassing a previous world record set in August 1999, ShopKo suppliers, friends and employees today raised $2,508,498 in the 2000 ShopKo Charity Golf Classic. Supporting Special Olympics programs in 19 states, today's total exceeds last year's $2,041,776 by nearly a half million dollars. Approximately 1,700 golfers participated in the event, which was held on eleven Green Bay area golf courses. The ShopKo Charity Golf Classic is now the world's largest one-day fundraising event for Special Olympics.
