Broad, preachy, predictable and corny, TNT's "Running Mates" also manages to be briskly entertaining.
Premiering on the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles, the film essentially is a modern-day "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington," coated with a thick, spicy "Dynasty" sauce. This time the knight in shining principles is Tom Selleck, who has shucked his mustache to play Democratic presidential nominee James Reynolds Pryce.
