Used vehicles that wear out their welcome at the 20-franchise Jeff Wyler Automotive Family in Cincinnati normally are sent to a wholesale auto auction and sold at a loss.
But the dealership group has been trying something different the past two months.
Every two weeks, the group lists about a dozen of those unwanted vehicles on the Internet and auctions them to the highest bidders. The auction is open to the public.
Russ Gentry, Wyler's general manager of e-commerce, said the group has sold 17 used vehicles this way. He said the dealership made a little money on the vehicles and saved about $500 per vehicle in transportation costs, auction fees ...
