What causes dry skin?
Dry skin is a common problem in later life due to changes in the skin, such as loss of sweat glands and oil glands. For example, nearly 85% of older people develop a condition known as winter itch, which is caused by overheated, dry indoor air. Certain fabrics (such as wool), antiperspirants, perfumes, soaps, and hot baths can cause further irritation of dry skin.
