Tim Duncan, the biggest prize in this year's NBA free-agent pool, announced recently that he would resign with the San Antonio Spurs, despite the Orlando Magic's dogged efforts to woo him.
"Orlando had a lot to offer," said Duncan, 24, who became a free agent on July 1. "I went down there and had a good time. When it came down to it, I just like what I have here."
What Duncan has in San Antonio is a good chance to capture the NBA championship. He and teammate David Robinson led the Spurs to the title in 1998-99, and Duncan is convinced it can happen again.
