The following statement is being issued by the Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois:
The Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority (McPier) has not responded to efforts to save Howard van Doren Shaw's masterpiece, the Platt Luggage/Ginn and Co. building, now used for McPier's offices. Although there are several preservation options to save the building, McPier has not listened.
The Landmarks Preservation Council of Illinois is running advertisements in Chicago's two metropolitan papers this week, asking readers to contact Illinois Governor George Ryan and/or Scott Fawell, Director of McPier, seeking help ...
