Over the past four years, E! Entertainment Television has embarked on a course to extend its entertainment brand. abroad. In the beginning, the company's goals were simple: license its entertainment programming much like other syndicated shows. But E! eventually found another way to branch out. By joining forces with local media partners, E! sought to create stand-alone channels that were market-specific. The first such channel was Entertainment Television Latin America, launched on July 15, 1996 through a partnership with the HBO Ol[acute{e}] Latin America Group.
