Port of Seattle commissioners yesterday authorized construction of a $12.7 million cruise-ship terminal at the port's Bell Street Pier complex at Pier 66.
But commissioners said only a lesser version likely will be finished by May 7, 2000, when Norwegian Cruise Line's 2,000-passenger M/S Norwegian Sky first ties up at the terminal to inaugurate seven-day round-trip Alaska cruises.
In choosing the most expensive of several options for the cruise ship terminal, the commission noted that other cruise-ship lines are considering Seattle as a home port for vessels in the booming Alaska cruise service. They instructed Marine Division Director Steve Sewell to ...
