The Irish peace agreement faces a major hurdle because of resistance to Sinn Fein's inclusion in Northern Ireland's new government when it convenes March 10.
``But no matter what happens, Sinn Fein will not abandon the peace process,'' said Christy Burke, a Dublin city councilman and a member of the political party's negotiating team for the Good Friday Agreement reached in April 1998.
At stake in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland is an accord negotiated among eight political parties and the British and Irish governments that would create a custom-tailored Belfast government balancing Protestant and Catholic rights and obligations.
