After years in the economic doldrums, Kitsap County is eyeing a burst of new energy now that its growth plan has been blessed by regional watchdogs.
Coupled with plans for high-speed passenger-only ferry service from Southworth and Kingston, as well as from Bremerton, the west-Sound region appears poised for big changes.
Kitsap County last week passed muster with a comprehensive plan that meets standards outlined by the Legislature eight years ago. Previously, the county's plan was rejected twice in nearly five years by the Central Puget Sound Growth Management Hearings Board.
