The Lake Washington girls captured the 4A Sea-King District girls basketball title for the second time in three years with a 55-45 win over Redmond at Hec Edmundson Pavilion last night. Both LW (20-5) and the Mustangs (17-8) advance to the 4A state tournament at the Tacoma Dome, starting next Wednesday.

Led by juniors Briana Duerr (16 points) and Catherine Kraayeveld (15), the Kangs shut down the Mustang running game and committed only 10 turnovers.

``It took us a while to get the intensity going,'' Lake Washington coach Roger Hansen said. ``It came out in the fourth quarter when we really needed it.''
