Boeing Commercial Airplanes' new system of parts documentation and management reached a major milestone in March: 8,000 engineers adopted it.
``As compared with our other implementations, this is probably the smoothest,'' Boeing spokeswoman Cris McHugh said.
The engineers were supposed to make the change in November, but the division's president, Alan Mulally, wanted no disruptions in production. Boeing was then focused on getting airplanes built right and out the door by the end of the year.
