Airbus Industrie delivered its 1,000th A320, the plane designed to challenge the best-selling Boeing 737, and which touched off a bruising price war between the world's two makers of commercial jets.
The delivery is a milestone for the European plane maker as it joins Boeing and the former McDonnell Douglas - now part of Boeing - which combined have passed the 1,000 milestone on five plane programs. Airbus' single-aisle A320 was delivered on lease from International Lease Finance Corp. to Air France.
