When the Seattle Mariners start work at Safeco Field on July 15, the team will join the list of the most valuable Major League Baseball franchises.
It doesn't take a sports business wiz to know why: With the exception of the top-valued Yankees, with $176 million in annual revenues, a killer cable TV deal and an $80 million player payroll, the next six teams on the most-valuable list all have ballparks built since 1992.
The M's? These guys rank 12th, at $236 million, Forbes magazine said.
