The nation's top earthquake watchdogs have issued a new magnitude of 5.9 for the tremor that shook western Washington July 2.

The quake was centered near Satsop and caused moderate amounts of damage in Grays Harbor County.

But that doesn't mean the previous estimate of the quake as magnitude 5.4-5.5 was incorrect, the seismologists emphasized.

``There are several different magnitude measures,'' explained Bill Smith, a geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey's National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo.
