Seattle's Library Board needs to take a hard second look at siting the new Capitol Hill branch library at the Keystone site. The location at Broadway Avenue East and East Roy Street (across from the Harvard Exit) is ideal for the branch with a Metro No. 7 bus stop right at the curb.

In a 3-2 vote Tuesday, the Library Board rejected a proposal by L&N Properties, which wants to include the branch library with a housing project. L&N wants to build the development to 65 feet: 25 feet higher than the current zoning height limit. This proposal won support in the neighborhood planning process. Others on Capitol Hill object, however.
