Government troops used a state of emergency declaration to carry out searches and interrogate suspects yesterday after a separatist rebel uprising in the remote Caprivi strip.
Another 700 reinforcements arrived yesterday to track down 200 rebel fighters, police sources said. They joined more than 1,000 troops already in place.
