A court-ordered slowdown of the state's fast ferry Chinook takes effect tomorrow, as the boat slows to a third of its speed traveling through Rich Passage, Port Orchard Bay and Sinclair Inlet.
King County Superior Court Judge Glenna Hall slowed the boat, which travels between Bremerton and Seattle, while the state completes environmental studies. Property owners have said the boat's wake is damaging the shoreline.
To keep service at planned levels, the ferry system will add a fifth boat to the route tomorrow.
The changes will also affect bus schedules on the Kitsap County side of the Sound.
