This one was for all the bragging rights. Lake Washington didn't just beat a big rival, it earned its first state playoff berth ever.
''It's huge for us,'' Kangs coach Tim Tramp said amid hugs and shouts of ''We're going to state!'' from the Lake Washington locker room. ''It's like the fun is just beginning.''
Kangs graduate John Barile agreed. He walked away from Lake Washington's 28-6 victory of Juanita with a huge grin, despite the rain that pounded the turf at Mac Field.
''I've been sitting in the stands here since 1977. It's about time we got these wins. It's unbelievable,'' said Barile, who played football for the Kangs in the mid-'70s. ...
