The Seattle Mariners are attempting to block final approval of the construction of Safeco Field by claiming that cracks have appeared in the stadium concrete and its retractable roof has malfunctioned.
The Mariners last night said the cracks have appeared in the main concourse and that some of the wheels that move the roof have failed to track properly. The contractor shouldn't be let off the hook as long as those problems exist, the team insists.
The Public Facilities District, the public agency that runs the stadium, is holding a special meeting today to consider a proposed resolution closing out the contract with Hunt-Kiewit, the prime contractor for ...
