BOEING GLUE PROBLEM WIDESPREAD ADHESIVE IN JET DUCTS COULD BE FLAMMABLE.(News)

An adhesive material that does not meet federal flammability standards is much more common in Boeing airplanes than the company previously disclosed.

The Post-Intelligencer has learned that the adhesive, thought to be isolated to a moisture barrier in the cockpit, is used in an extensive system of ducts that carry air to the cabin and other pressurized areas of an airplane.

Boeing confirmed the adhesive was used to attach a plastic film to insulating material around some of the duct work in its 747s, 767s, 757-200s and the classic models of its popular 737 airplanes.
