Stock prices of Seattle's Amazon.com Inc. surged 20 percent after the largest Internet retailer said it would announce additions to its product line, raising confidence in the company's ability to add sales and stem its losses.
Amazon.com jumped $13.06 to $78 a share. The increase is the biggest since Sept. 29, when the retailer introduced zShops, which lets other merchants rent space on its Web site.
The retailer may add software, home-improvement products, or home and garden gear to its site, analysts and investors said. Its stock had fallen 20 percent the past two weeks since Amazon.com warned of plans to spend even more on promotions and new ...
