Researchers have developed an experimental vaccine that appears to fight prostate cancer by revving up the body's immune system.
``This same concept could be applied to breast cancer or other cancers,'' Jonathan Simons, who led the study done by researchers at the Johns Hopkins Oncology Center, said yesterday. ``This is not a cure, but this is a whole new door to walk through to get to curing prostate cancer using the immune system.''
The study was published in the October issue of the journal Cancer Research.
