The heads of the North Korean press agreed to stop their anti-South propaganda in the five-point statement which was released following their meeting with their South Korean counterparts in Pyongyang last week.
``The media organizations of the South and North will avoid confrontation between compatriots and stop slander and condemnation, which damages national reconciliation and unity, in keeping with the prevailing situation,'' the statement said.
It was signed last Friday by Choe Hak-rae, head of the (South) Korean Newspapers Association, and Choe Chil-nam, editor-in-chief of the Rodong Shinmun of the North.
