If you've ever considered becoming a vegetarian, you're in good company. While adopting a vegetarian diet was once a good indication that you were a hippie or a radical, going meatless is a practice that's now being embraced by a growing number of Americans - about 7 percent at last count.
Although some folks swear off animal products for religious or environmental reasons, most vegetarians give up meat in an effort to gain better health. And it seems to work.
