The focus of this book is on iterative synthesis techniques for designing RF and microwave amplifiers and oscillators. A generalized approach to estimating the output power of a linear amplifier at the 1 dB compression point without resorting to nonlinear analysis techniques is featured. The basic principle of this approach is that the output power of a transistor is mainly limited by clipping the intrinsic current or voltage.
