Chile: Due to the positive results achieved by its wood subsidiaries, Copec earned Pesos$133bil in profits during the first half (Jan-June) of this year, up from Pesos$41.442bil in the same period of last year. Non-operating profits increased from Pesos$20.411bil to Pesos$113.561bilover the period. Celarauco, owned by Copec, earned Pesos$92.595bil in profits over the first half, a 246% increase in comparison with the same period of last year. CMPC's profits rose 2,734%, to Pesos$63.865bil.
