Second quarter 2000 sales of basic hardlines (excluding lumber and building materials) by Ace Hardware Corporation were $802.9 million, an 8.0 percent increase compared to second quarter of 1999, the company reported today. This brings first half 2000 hardlines sales to $1.51 billion, up 8.2 percent from last year's first six months' total. This compares to $1.68 billion in total sales for the same time period in 1999, which included lumber and building materials sales prior to the spin-off and merger with Builder Marts of America (BMA).
