Impulse Airlines, an Australian carrier, has stated that it is making a profit even though it has recently launched huge discount airfares sales.

On 13 August the carrier released over 10,000 fares for flights between Sydney and Brisbane at AUD33 each way, a move that was later matched by both Ansett and Qantas.

Gerry McGowan, Impulse Airlines' CEO, has stated that the carrier was 'in the black', adding, 'typically it would take us 20 weeks to make a route work. The fact that we've done it in nine week is exceptional, I think.'
