Some Florence City Council members disagree with an engineering firm's recommended alignment of a proposed connector road between Mall and Hopeful Church roads.
GRW Engineers - hired by the city earlier this year to confirm whether the connector was needed and to pick the best route for the road - chose what is called Alternate D, an extension of Exchange Road off Mall Road that runs behind a Kroger store and ends at Hopeful Church at the Cayton Road intersection.
That route was picked because it best alleviated traffic at the Mall Road/Ky. 18 intersection and had the least negative impact on the area of the five possible alignments studied, said Matt ...
