The Federal Reserve Board in May announced that the U.S. unemployment rate had reached a 30-year low in April. Only 3.9% of workers were unemployed.
"Most Americans have never lived in a peacetime economy with unemployment as low as it is today," President Clinton said. "This is a happy day for the people of the United States."
But for the nursing home industry, these are not happy days -- especially when it comes to the issue of hiring and retaining workers.
