At least once a week, someone tells me that they suffer from low blood sugar. People are describing an uncomfortable feeling involving a sense of shakiness, emotional instability, weakness and even dizziness. The symptoms are relieved by eating.
In medicine, low blood sugar, called reactive hypoglycemia, is extremely rare. True hypoglycemia involves a drop in blood sugar - glucose - to abnormally low levels within five hours after a meal or upon more extended fasting.
