The Tidewater Teddy Bear and Doll Show and Sale was started by Edna Smith eight years ago as a means of raising money for the Hope Haven Children's Home in Virginia Beach.
Hope Haven is a home for children who have been left without their parents. At any given time, it houses more than 300 children in need of a secure, nurturing environment; but with that, comes a cost.
Therefore, Smith, a recently retired doll store owner of 17 years, decided to combine her life's passion with a charitable cause and began organizing the doll show.
