Geoffrey H. Moore, a man who was well-known to members of NABE, died last March at eighty-six. He was important both for his accomplishments as a researcher and for his qualities as a human being. In his research role, Moore made an extraordinarily wide range of important contributions to the indicator approach to business cycle analysis over a span of sixty years, starting in 1939 and continuing through the remainder of the twentieth century.
Geof Moore earned his Bachelors and Masters degrees from Rutgers University during the 1930s and his Ph.D. from Harvard in 1947. In 1939 he joined the National Bureau of Economic Research, becoming Associate Director of ...
