And the MAGIC Word Is . . .
The MAGIC meeting has always been a "Did you see?" kind of gathering, with retailers strongly suggesting we check out specific fashion lines around the Convention Center.
But the MAGIC market that ended Wednesday was overwhelmingly characterized by "Did you hear . . .?" as rumors circulated at an unprecedented velocity, much of it no doubt brought out into the open by the continuing saga of the Federated, Campeau, Macy's triangle.
Even before we arrived in Los Angeles, and while spending a few days in San Francisco, it was "Did you hear" . . . that Charivari was coming to Market Street, site of the new Nordstrom store? ...
