Aug. 21--Rising fuel prices and steadily rising fees are having little or no impact on the rental car industry which, thanks to a strong U.S. economy, expects to do quite well this year.
Full airplanes, a steady flow of international visitors and U.S. consumers willing to spend extra money on vacations will guarantee car rental companies increased business.
"It has been a great summer," said John LeSage, vice president and director of research at Abrams Travel Data Services, a California research firm that specializes in market data on the auto rental, travel service and fleet industries. "There are no ominous signs for the car rental companies."
