This is the time of year allergy sufferers start hoping for rain.
Ragweed season began Wednesday and will peak from the last week of August through the middle of September, experts say. Hot, dry days make for a long miserable allergy season, while rain helps ease the suffering.
''If the ragweed season is mainly dry the counts could be worse. If the season is rainy, the pollen is washed out of the air and counts decrease; days with storms have lower counts.
''It's hard to predict. As long as it's not raining we should expect it to be a big ragweed season,'' said Dr. David Bernstein, professor of medicine at the University of Cincinnati division of allergy and ...
