Formulation of poultry diets on a digestible amino acid basis has been shown to be superior to the use of total amino acid values. This is especially true when ingredients that have low amino acid digestibility are included in the diet. Information about the amino acid digestibility of a wide variety of feed ingredients is an important requisite for better and more efficient feed formulation. More reliable amino acid digestibility values, measured on more feed ingredient, will permit more efficient formulation of poultry diets.
