Sales from pork rinds grew faster than for any other salty snack except for jerky last year, topping $410 million.
That comes from the Snack Food Association in Washington.
Pork rinds, it reports, are outselling sunflower seeds, and are gaining on ready-to-eat popcorn.
If an airline offered sunflower seeds as a snack, I could contain my enthusiasm, and have found ready-to-eat popcorn a far cry from popcorn hot from the hopper, drizzled with butter.
Nor does the prospect of jerky excite me unless, perchance, I am trapped in a snow drift.
