ELECTRICITY: FINLAND WILL NEED 3.8 TW ADDITIONAL CAPACITY BY 2015.

Demand for electricity in Finland is projected to grow from the 78 TWh in 1999 to approximately 92 TWh in 2010 and to 97 TWh in 2015. Industries will continue to account for a high proportion of this growth, some 60%. Urbanisation, smaller unit sizes of households and an increase in the standard of living will boost electricity consumption by households and the service sector.Despite the fact that industries are subject to structural reforms and that the estimate takes into account the intensification of energy use, the report predicts that industrial consumption of electricity will grow from the 42 TWh in 1999 to approximately 54 TWh in 2015.
