WHEN I ENTERED THE CONstruction industry in 1956, construction was the nation's largest industry.

Today, the nation's largest industry is -- construction. I think this is the only aspect of construction that hasn't changed in the past 44 years.

In 1956, there were more construction workers than there were jobs. If a person was not experienced or willing to start in an apprenticeship program, he could forget about getting a job in construction.
